Join the Adventure: Become a Beaver Team Member!
Do you enjoy helping young children explore the world around them through games, crafts, and outdoor activities? As a Beaver Team Member, you’ll be an essential part of the team that brings fun and friendship to our 6-8 year olds.
You’ll support the Beaver Team Leader in delivering a varied and engaging programme that encourages teamwork, builds confidence, and creates lasting memories. If you’re enthusiastic and enjoy working with this age group, come and be part of the Beaver adventure!
Who is responsible for you?
The Beaver section Team Lead
You’ll be an integral part of the Beavers team, working collaboratively with the Beavers Team Lead. They will be your go-to person for support, information, and to help you feel confident in your role.
Beaver Team Tasks
Plan and Deliver a great programme
- Work with young people to plan and deliver a great programme, including nights away and adventurous activities
- Help Beavers earn their top award – The Chief Scout’s Bronze Award
- Find ways to continue to improve the programme
- Tailor the programme to the needs of your Beaver Colony
- Include community members to help run programme nights
Make sure there’s a great culture for all
- Help young people and volunteers feel welcome and included, and make changes (when necessary) so the environment and activities are accessible for everyone.
- Mentor volunteers in the team and help them develop, including Young Leaders.
- Check volunteers behave positively and in line with Our Volunteering Culture.
Create a safe environment
- Check the programme can run safely.
- Make sure adult:child safeguarding ratios are always maintained and there’s a leader in charge for each session.
- Create and review risk assessments, check there are first aid kits or supplies for all activities,
- Review safety incidents and report them in the right way & report any safeguarding concerns directly to the UKHQ Safeguarding Team
